Sad news…

TNT has pulled the plug on their medical drama, HawthoRNe. The Jada Pinkett Smith TV series has been cancelled after three seasons on the air.

The cancellation news comes following the end of the third season a couple weeks ago. Despite having a strong start in its freshman year, HawthoRNe’s ratings have declined over the past two seasons.

Year three ended up averaging a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.51 million viewers, a loss of 22% and 19% when compared to season two. Year two had averaged a 0.9 in the demo and 3.09 million, a decline of 18% and 9% from season one.

When compared to TNT’s other summer shows, season three HawthoRNe had one of the cable channel’s smallest audiences. Only already-cancelled Men of a Certain Age had worse numbers.

In a statement, TNT said, “TNT has decided not to order a fourth season of Hawthorne. TNT truly appreciates the tremendous dedication of everyone involved in Hawthorne. The series gave TNT the opportunity to work with many outstanding people, including Jada Pinkett Smith and the rest of the show’s talented cast, crew, producers and writers. We wish everyone involved with Hawthorne nothing but the best.”

Another fresh face will be turning up in the halls of McKinley High when Glee returns this fall.
American Dreams alum Vanessa Lengies is joining the Fox hit’s Season 3 cast in the recurring role of Sugar, a new student who is described as a cross between Molly Shannon and a New Jersey Housewife.
Sugar was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and a tin ear. Basically, she can’t carry a tune to save her life, but I’m guessing that won’t stop her from auditioning for a spot in New Directions.
The casting of Lengies, who currently plays Nurse Kelly Epson on TNT’s HawthoRNe, comes just hours after Friday Night Lights‘ LaMarcus Tinker was tapped to recur as a new love interest for Amber Riley’s Mercedes.

I thought it was cute how the junior nurse who gets thrown up on and pooped on by a bird, is that going to be recurring where she’s going to be smattered by life?

Jada Pinkett Smith: She’s got some really really strong storylines. Her name is Vanessa (Lengies) and she plays Kelly on the show. She has some very very strong storylines where you’ll kind of see how her character develops and how she learns and matures through some of the experiences she has in the hospital.

I was watching TNT (the channel) the other day & I saw a promo for a new tv series called Hawthorne & who did I see on the promo? Yep that’s right, Vanessa. I’m not sure how big her role is or if she is even a regular because she isn’t listed on the cast at IMDB & I can’t find any news articles about it.. but I know it was her! I’ll post the caps & the clip of the promo within the next few days. The show is a medical drama that is set to premiere this Summer sometime.

“Still Waiting..” is going to be released on DVD on February 17th. You can watch the trailer here. Vanessa is only in it at the beginning, so it doesn’t look like her role is very big.

Also, thanks to Gretchen for letting me know that Vanessa will be a guest star on the February 2nd episode of “Medium”.

Apparently “Extreme Movie” is going to be released to DVD on February 24th. You can read more of the details here, there are some stills of the movie located at that site but none of Vanessa =(

Pilot season is coming up and hopefully Vanessa will be auditioning again! She has landed roles in pilots every year since American Dreams ended but none of them have gotten picked up. Hopefully this year is gonna be her year! I miss our girl and I just wanna see her on our screen again. Good luck to you Vanessa, we all support you!!
